During my secondment to Erhversvhus Sjaelland in Denmark, I engaged in a series of activities aimed at advancing our understanding of sustainable organiziation to achieve targeted performance outcomes in organisations. This report outlines the key activities undertaken, collaborations involved, and outcomes achieved during the research period.
- Study Completion: Empowering Leadership and Employee Voice for Sustainable Innovation
One of the primary objectives of my research stay was to complete a study on empowering leadership and its influence on employee voice for sustainable innovation. This study involved collaboration with project members from both the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and Al Akhalwayn University, Ifrane (AUI). Having previously completed rigorous data collection, analysis, and interpretation, I completed the writing up on the dynamics between empowering leadership behaviors, employee voice, and their implications for fostering sustainable innovation within organizations. The study yielded valuable insights that contribute to the existing literature on leadership and innovation and provides important practicioner implicaitons.
- Project Proposal Development: DIMODI EU Project Proposal
Another significant aspect of my research stay involved discussions with Erhversvhus Sjaelland’s employees to discuss practice related elements of the DIMODI EU project proposal. This proposal, developed in collaboration with EM4FIT project partners and external stakeholders, aims to address pressing challenges related to organizational collaborative work settings and how to overcome perceived distances in remote, virtual collaboration among employees. By leveraging insights from both academia and practice partners, we drafted a comprehensive project proposal to meet the project call in March 2024.
- Operationalization Refinement: Social Sustainability Scale
I also had the opportunity to refine the operationalization of the social sustainability scale in collaboration with the Danish practice partner and members of the Center for Organizing Social Sustainability at SDU that I met on the 25th of February. Through extensive discussions and exchanges, we enhanced the measurement tools used to assess social sustainability within organizations. This refinement process ensures the validity and reliability of our instruments, thereby enhancing the rigor of future research endeavors in this domain.
- Research Presentation: Performance-oriented Sustainable HRM for Employee Voice Study
As part of my research stay, I delivered a presentation on the development of our study investigating performance-oriented Sustainable Human Resource Management (HRM) practices and their impact on employee voice. By highlighting the relationship between HRM strategies, employee engagement, and organizational sustainability, the presentation stimulated fruitful discussions and laid the groundwork for future collaborations in this area.
Overall, my research stay in Denmark proved to be highly productive and enriching. Through collaboration with project members, discussions with practice partners, and engagement with academic institutions, we advanced our understanding of different facts of organizing sustainable innovation and develop performance oriented sustainable HRM. The insights gained from this experience will undoubtedly inform future research endeavors and contribute to the broader discourse on organizational development and sustainability.
